    In-Reach for Members

    Saturday March 30, 7:30 p.m.

    Chamberlin Observatory

    2930 E Warren Avenue, Denver

    "Using Cassiopeia As A Guidepost"

In-Reach Coordinator Bill "Mr. Bill" Stevens will teach us how to use the constellation Cassiopeia to find other constellations using his "Cassiopeia Guide Post" hand out and hands-on training.  Mr. Bill will provide two or three telescopes, describe how to use them safely and with care.  A pair of binoculars will also be available, and he asks you to bring your own binoculars if you so desire.

This In-Reach event will be very informative for members who are new to astronomy, and a good refresher for those who have not observed in recent years.

Be sure to dress in layers in case the temperatures drop, and feel welcome to bring snacks for yourself or to share with others.

Due to requests from several members, there is now an Amateur Telescope Maker (ATM) forum. It's a place for builders, tinkerers and thinkers to post their projects, ideas, plans, and questions.

** Please note that the In-Reach originally scheduled for Saturday, February 23rd, 2019, has been cancelled.

To increase DAS members' opportunities to socialize before and after our upcoming Spring Banquet, we have arranged to start earlier and finish later than has been usual in the past: The expanded times now start 5:30 PM, and end at 10:00 PM (dinner is at 7:00, as before).

February Outreach 2019 UPDATE posted. Please see "Outreach Events" Forum. More volunteers welcome!

  • 8 Feb 2019 2:15 PM | July Candia

Hello PN Teams (and DAS members),

July Candia is on PN Team 4 on Thursdays (T#4 is assigned every 2 weeks). She started a new travel job here in Colorado (contract lasts until 5/2/19) and will likely not be able to make it to Public Night. Please let us know if you can cover any of these dates:

    2/14, 2/283/143/284/114/25

We have four people on Team 4: Brad Gilman (scope), Joe Kozic (scope), Ken Sturrock(scope, presenter), July Candia (scope, occ. presenter). So, if you could help with the telescope or presentation, or even with traffic flow in the dome that would be great.

Team 4 is in a bit of trouble because sometimes Ken has to go out of state for his job and Brad will be busy with tax season, so he may have to miss PN as well.

Email July.Candia@gmail.com if you can help.
